we have a beautiful new bench seat in our dining room! i just love it!
jordan, patrick and my dad built this last week and i just finished painting it
white. my mother in law is going to make a covered cushion out of oilcloth that i pick out.
one of the best parts is the storage inside. we really needed more storage.
we are still wanting to make a pass through from the kitchen-hints the tape. we are hoping to do that when jord's parents come down in march. :) thank you, thank you jord, patty and pops!

new years eve...prom 626

new years eve was awesome! we had a neighborhood "626"party which we call bc of our zip code. it was prom any decade theme. we were styled from the 90's along with our friends sarah and corby from okc. britt and p were the 60's. some friends faith and brady were the 70's(she made this awesome photo set) and will and mimi(the hosts) were current day jersey shore! it's hard to tell from all the pics but there were some amazing hair dos. sarah created an elegant french twist topped with babies breath in my hair and britt got an awesome adele do. and yes jord is wearing a mullet wig, bolo and cummerbund!

Christmas 2011

we enjoyed christmas morning at my parents home along with britt and her fam. we made great memories and learned what to do for next year :) the kids were going wild and opening presents while we were not looking!

christmas eve started with decorating cookies for santa and a birthday cake for Jesus. (they didn't want to eat the cake until Jesus came to his party)

this year was really special since paytie is starting to understand more. we talked about the real reason for chirstmas. that it's not about the presents but about the birth of Jesus.

i've made them 2 different ways. baking the cake in a pan then spooning it in the jars and baked them right in the jar. i like the first way so you can layer the cake and icing.

oh, how i love my family!!

while we were in okc for thanksgiving our dear sweet friend, sarah, took our family photos. (go to her blog to see the others) aren't they amazing?! she said once, getting your family photos is better than christmas. and i totally agree! i can't wait to see the rest of them she put on a disc.
thank you so much sarah for capturing these memories and thank you so much for mentoring me in my new journey of photography...as everyone can see i have a lot to learn.

thanksgiving in oklahoma

this year we were able to spend a whole week in okc with jords fam. for thanksgiving day we traveled a bit north to enid to be with extended family. it was a great time! we were entertained by food, family, scooters, hay, cats :) and more food. i am so thankful for my texas and oklahoma family!

we finished the week with christmas. nana made the girls pj's and stockings! they were beautiful!!! the girls slept so much on our journey home.

miss evie was a sick girl this week. she had a temp from 101-104 for 2 days. i was kinda freaking out. we went to the doc twice and they are still running some test on her stool and urine(that cup was empty when she was holding it :) we were so close to going to the hospital for fluids. payton was such a big helper. she gave her pedialyte and read her stories. it is just precious watching their bond grow. she is much better now, praise the Lord!

i made a little craft for a bday present this weekend. saw this floating around on pinterest.

glue them together to create a flower
glue them on a canvas(mine was one i had)....actually i had most of this stuff
spray paint the whole thing

halloween is here, well according to our decorations.

we had a great night watching bon iver (at the beautiful long center).
for you non hipsters you pronounce it with an /E/ and not and /I/
no, i am not a hipster, just know how to say it bc jord always researches
musical things to make sure he says them correctly. he does it with lyrics too :)
you should check him out on itunes. it is amazing all the sounds they create.
there are 9 members of the band ranging from a huge bass sax to a trumpet, violin, 2 drum sets.....
it was really awesome!

iris turned one last week and we celebrated at our house since the blantons are busy

making their house a home.
with a lot of help from lisa(she gave us ideas and goodies for the party that she used at her daughters 1st bday), britt made a bright and sunny "you are my sunshine" party for iris. it was a lot of fun!

silhouette 101

i've been working on a silhouette of payton for her room and finally finished.

i really wanted an oval frame, but they are usually more expensive until i found this mirror from hobby lobby for $5. i figured i could cover the mirror and act like its a frame and you would never know...well until i admitted to you.

there are many ways to do this, but here's how i did it.

i took a pic of payton
printed it out
cut it out very carefully & added the scoop neck
traced it on to black paper

as you can see below i ended up with this more modern flare of a silhouette by tracing it again on to a patterned paper

i did like how her features were really defined in the blk/wht

but i just wanted something different.

*now you should try it on you, kids, dog, cat....... you name it*

we sold our tall black table on craigslist and bought another table on craigslist.
(my hubby worked his magic and talked them into only buying the table and not the ugly chairs that came with it)
then we bought these clear chairs at ikea.
i really like the shape of the table. oval fits great in this room. i will paint the table a light gray.

we are going to build an L bench seat in the corner with storage and those
lines on the wall are where we will knock out to view the kitchen and
give us a bar on the kitchen side that will have bar stools.
...one project at a time...many more to come

on sunday morning we went to support our neighbors at their church's 1st sunday. they are the campus pastors at celebrations new south austin location. they meet at the met theater. thats a pic of their littlest one, they are buddies. we will miss them so much when they move.

we made it an austin day when we left service and went to soco. enjoyed some shopping around at the interesting stores and then had some yummy wahoos fish tacos. we wanted to eat at the trailer section (variety of different restaurants trailers), but it was just too darn hot.
i snapped the beautiful view of downtown while we were headed up congress. such a famous shot.

i just found this tutorial diy tshirt dress...well tunic for on paytie.
it was super easy. i made it in about 20 minutes -starting at 11:00 last night :). threading the
elastic took the most time.

she'll wear it with leggings. the tutorial had it with a belt too, but i
didn't have enough tshirt.

so we bought her a real big girl back pack and lunch box. it came in the mail today and she is soooo proud of it!

i was searching and searching for that perfect back pack (britt said i was obsessing over it, i call it-shopping for a good deal) lol-i ended up going back to the first site i looked at-pottery barn kids

i think i will get a big P embroidered on it in green(PBK wouldn't do it big enough)

his boss asked him to make an "all about me" poster since they've had a lot of turn over.
i giggled a little and asked if he was back in grade school.
but it was fun to help him make.

also, he(or his wife) was asked to decorate this cape for a superhero themed
coworker appreciation week. i especially liked the rhinestones i added, lol.
payton was glad to show it off for me.

july 23rd was our 6 year anniversary!
we had a great night on 2nd street with italian food window shopping and then fro-yo
saturday we took the girls to monument for breakfast and then hit up dos salsa togo for dinner.
it was a fun (non-dieting) weekend.

***update*** mri came back normal! waiting 4 weeks for the spinal fluid results.

this little man is cannon. he is a neighborhood friend of ours.
he has been through a lot in his short life. he will be 2 in september.

he is a happy boy and knows what he likes and dislikes!

he has been on a feeding tube since he was 6 months old due to not wanting anything in his mouth, as in any type of food. he has been through an intense eating program, too with some progress
he has delayed speech but volume is not his weakness :)

he just took his first steps and walks like a champ!!

the dr.s are yet to give him a diagnosis. he is currently in dallas getting an MRI and spinal tap, their genetic neurologist wants to rule out possibilities.

this family would covet your prayers.

RLG summer party

jordan and i are leaders for our church's small group called Real Life Group. we've really enjoyed meeting ever thursday night to discuss sermon notes and life. we take a break during the summer and this was our last group for a few months.

we met at britt's and the parents talked while the kiddos played in the sprinkler and ate, ate, & ate! it's not a cookout with out a barrel of cheese balls(right nini?!)

but more detail of the morning.....when i picked up payton from sunday school she couldn't wait to give daddy a card she made for him. she loves to see him after he plays the drums in service. she is very comfortable around a stage(not sure where she gets that from) when i told her to go see daddy i didn't realize 2nd service was not over yet!!!! she flew open the doors to the gym and ran up on stage yelling DADDY!!! while pastor keith was closing the service!!!! oh wow! i ran down the center aisle with evie in my sling and my hand over my mouth, shaking my head "i'm so sorry"
everyone said "oh, how cute, and on father's day"....it would've been cuter to me if it wasn't my child interrupting church.

summer 2011 is officially here! we went to the pool for the first time and had a blast! mondays nights the dads play volleyball while the moms and kiddos swim.

we also got a membership to the ymca. first visit was for payton....she loves splash pads!

i took the girls to a birthday party at a petting zoo. payton was so comfortable around the animals. she really had fun even when the goat head butted her!!!!
